Schwisow Construction is proud to announce the addition of Marty Young as Senior Manager of Pre-Construction. With a strong background in commercial construction and a career built on collaboration, leadership, and client service, Marty brings both expertise and passion to the Schwisow team.
Motivated by the team-driven nature of the industry, Marty found a natural fit in construction and pre-construction management. “Construction is one of the best examples of people coming together to build something meaningful,” he shared. “Pre-construction drew me in because it’s the stage where collaboration really drives results, working with owners, architects, engineers, and trade partners to ensure design, budget, and schedule align.”
Among his career highlights, Marty is especially proud of work on the Embassy Suites in La Vista, Nebraska, a seven-story hotel and conference center. “It was a challenging project because of the size and scope, but incredibly rewarding to coordinate so many moving parts and deliver a landmark property for the community,” Marty said.
“What excites me most about joining Schwisow Construction is the people and the culture,” Marty explained. “It’s clear that the team is collaborative, professional, and truly committed to doing things the right way. I’m looking forward to working closely with Schwisow’s customers, building strong relationships, and contributing to projects where trust, quality, and client satisfaction are top priorities.”
In his new role, Marty will help guide projects from the earliest stages. “My role is about setting projects on the right foundation - aligning budgets, schedules, and designs, identifying risks early, and ensuring clear communication,” he explained. “That preparation gives both Schwisow Construction and our clients confidence that their project will be delivered the way they envisioned.”
Colleagues describe Marty’s leadership as team-oriented and collaborative. “I believe in working side by side with the team, encouraging input, and creating an environment where people feel heard and respected,” Marty said. Looking ahead, he hopes to integrate quickly into Schwisow’s processes and culture, while helping streamline pre-construction efforts. “By the end of my first year, my goal is to have built strong connections and contributed to delivering successful projects that strengthen client trust and showcase the quality Schwisow is known for.”
Outside of work, Marty enjoys time with his large and active family, He has four daughters, three sons-in-law, and eleven grandchildren, with another on the way. He also enjoys beach vacations, live music concerts, and kayaking with his wife. If not in construction, Marty imagines a career in education: “I’ve always enjoyed mentoring and helping others grow, and I see parallels between teaching and leading construction teams.”
When asked about a favorite tool in the toolbox, Marty didn’t hesitate: “Communication. Just like a hammer or tape measure, good communication is essential for getting the job done right.”
