Celebrating 15 Years of Leadership and Loyalty at Schwisow Construction

by Schwisow Construction

Schwisow Construction is proud to celebrate the 15-year work anniversary of Mike Berry, a dedicated project manager whose career has been defined by integrity, collaboration, and a deep commitment to building lasting relationships within the construction industry.
Mike joined Schwisow Construction after graduating from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln with a degree in Construction Management. “I had interned with another company while I was in college, and the owner of that company had an established relationship with Doug Blum,” Mike recalls. “Schwisow was looking to grow its project management team, and I was ready to take on a full-time role in commercial construction. That connection opened the door.”
He began his journey as an entry-level project manager, learning the ropes from Doug and Randy on small-scale jobs. Over time, his role grew alongside the company, and his ability to lead larger, more complex projects expanded. “I've been able to build relationships with our customers and trade partners that help bring a strong team to every project,” Mike said.
Some of his favorite projects include the PCE Executive Offices and Alpha Brewing Operations, both of which stood out for their visual appeal and strong collaboration. “It’s incredibly rewarding to take a client’s napkin sketch and help bring it to life. Seeing a project come to fruition, whether it’s a small remodel or a large facility, is what I’m most proud of.”
A defining milestone in his career came nearly a decade ago when he was asked to join Schwisow’s Strategic Planning Team. “It was an honor. I felt I had reached a level of credibility where I could help shape the company’s future, and the values and goals we set back then are still guiding us today.”
When asked what kept him at Schwisow for 15 years, Mike said, “A strong sense of purpose, and the way this company invests in its people. There’s an understanding that the job needs to get done, but also that family is the most important part of our lives.”
Mike also points to the culture as a key part of what makes Schwisow special. “We operate as a connected unit, sharing responsibilities and supporting one another. Our low turnover says a lot about how much we value our people.”
And of course, there are the fun memories too—like the time a site superintendent wrote a poem in his daily report about foam insulation beads scattered across the jobsite. “We still laugh about it to this day.”
Schwisow Construction celebrates Mike Berry on this meaningful milestone and thanks him for 15 years of dedication, leadership, and teamwork.
